BASIS Plano will continue with 80-minute classes. Some BASIS campuses are running 50-minute pilot programs, but BP is sticking with 80 minutes for the 26–27 academic year.

Fewer classes will eat together, which will help shorten lunch lines, and the school is expanding to two serving lines.

Students get a syllabus in the first week of school. Curriculum nights will also be held where parents can meet the teachers (see the calendar for dates). BASIS uses enVision for Math.

The school does not allow parents to have lunch with kids except for special occasions (e.g. Thanksgiving). For the 26–27 academic year the school is planning grade/class picnics, which will be announced by directors after school starts.

In the works. Primary: a library nook-style space in the Primary atrium. For Upper, there will be a separate library (location TBD).

BASIS Plano Booster is a Parent Organization that provides assistance to the school, organizes events and activities, provides teacher and staff appreciation, fosters school and family social interaction, encourages students and parents to stay informed, builds community, and gives parents a voice.

Booster is a volunteer group of working parents whose kids go to BASIS Plano. We provide communications to parents via WhatsApp, the Booster Newsletter, ParentSquare, and social media (Facebook, Instagram).

We are always seeking volunteers for our Booster events — get in touch. Board and Chair positions are filled for 2026–2027, but Grade Parent and Element Parent positions open around September 2026.

A Grade Parent represents kids and parents at their grade level at monthly meetings with school leadership, and relays Booster and school communications to Element Parents. An Element Parent is selected for each class-element and completes duties as requested by primary teachers and the Booster executive board. Selections include, but are not limited to, time commitments and volunteer activity at Booster events.

Yes. Once the school day begins, access to the building is strictly limited and routine drop-offs during instructional hours are not permitted. Only essential, health or emergent needs — prescription medication, eyeglasses and similar — come through the front office. Full details on the Closed Campus Policy page.

The school uses Raptor to check all visitors for outstanding warrants prior to entry each time. Security cameras have been installed throughout the school, including hallways. A private firm provides security guards actively on patrol. The doors to enter the school are locked at all times.

The building is a renovated church (2025) with some newly constructed areas. As of August 2025 the school has all new flooring, painted walls, and so on. The class and playground spaces align with other BASIS campuses. There is a designated storm shelter area to hold all students in case of weather emergencies. There are 2 gyms: a main gym used by middle and upper grades, and a smaller gym used by Primary students.

There are no playground shades and not much playground equipment, which has been a constant complaint from parents. This issue has been escalated to school administration.

There was a lot of damage to bathrooms, so the school has fixed the issues and added odor control. Damage to classrooms and walls was patched and repainted, and there was a deep cleaning of the carpets and floors.

The school contract with LifeTouch was eliminated in Spring 2026. As of June 2026, Megan Statler, Head of Operations, was reviewing local photography companies.

It depends on your oldest student. Red Line (Door 13) if your oldest is in K–3, Blue Line (Door 5) if you have a student in 4th or 5th grade, and Blue Line if your only student is in 6th–10th.

Do not arrive before your grade’s parking lot entry time — early arrivals are asked to come back in their own window. Entry times, dismissal times by grade and the sibling rules are all on the Carpool & Dismissal page.

Yes. There is a program called Free Bird to help parents sync up drop-off and pick-up. However, if your child is there after the time designated by the school, you need to enroll in the Late Bird Program.

BASIS does not offer a school bus service. Carpooling can be worked out with other parents — see the BASIS Plano Carpool spreadsheet on the Directory page.

Students are allowed to walk from nearby homes or bike, including the first day of school. Electric bikes are also allowed, but the school does not take responsibility for lost or stolen bikes. Walkers under G5 must sign a waiver with BASIS Plano school.

Early Bird: before-school care begins at 7:00am for all students.
Late Bird: fee-based afterschool care available until 5:30pm, running 4:00–5:30pm.
Free Bird: a holding area for kids in the MPR — kids dropped off early with a sibling or friend whose class starts before theirs.
